Finalmente The Dresden Codex in arrivo....ufficialmente iniziato lo shipping!!! Quindi se ne avete ordinato una copia, avrete il vostro Madina-Regalo di Natale....

the mighty Dresden finally arrives! i think it must have walked....:

I have tracked this thing, via the always convenient, UPS 120,002,004 character tracking number.it finally fired back with the ole "in transit" bit. as, i investigated further, it turns out that it has busted a move from a hub in indiana, and appears to be pulling into town sometime this evening.at which point, the guy in the brown truck, brown shirt, pants (shorts in the summer), brown hat, and casual sneakers, will be pulling out of warehouse 10D, mapquesting our place of business and ringing out buzzer. which doesn't work, so we'll have to stand there and wait all day. and that's fine....instant karma right? we made you guys wait for roughly...8 months?our bad. marathon customizing, packing and shipping sesh starts tomorrow.i will be providing an email addy for you guys to email requested shirt sizes as well.

muchos gracias,

xoxoxo madina

Matthew posta su Tumblr.... di nuovo!

E chi lo ferma più Matthew!!! sul suo Tumblr impazzano i post.....

chasingdragonflies asked: An actual question, what is your favorite way to pass time?

Aaaand, if you had to be any animal, what would you be and why? (:

anything that makes my mind stop talking to me is how i deal w the whole time conundrum.  soccer, racket ball, ghost in the grave yard, going out to dinner i love.
i would be and believe i used to be or hopefully will be a penguin.  2nd choice whale.

chasingdragonflies asked: Never change who you are. Thanks.
You and the guys have inspired me so much over the years, that it is reflected in everything I do. I have applied for a Music Journalism course because music is now such an essential component in my life. I just wanted to say thanks. Thank you for that, and for helping me discover the passion to start writing again through your story of Madina Lake. And thank you for your beautiful music which continues to fill me up with hope each and every single day. Thank you for giving me the best nights of my life when I am lucky enough to see you at shows. Thank you for my 'Fuck Your Scene' hoodie that you gave me in Yeovil, that I practically live in. Thank you for making me and all the other RP smile like crazy every single time we see an update. Thanks for SO MUCH more.

Thank you for being an incredible person who is positive no matter what. You give me hope, Matthew.
xxx

thank YOU for existing. i can’t tell you what those words mean to me.
seriously….xoxoxo

deaddragonflies asked: Hey hey Matthew, how are you traveling buddy? I hear many exciting things have been happening in the Madina family lately with a new addition (welcome to the world Aysa!) I'm VERY excited and eager to hear the Dresden codex in it's entirety, it sounds delicious from what I've heard so far!
Take it easy, get plenty of rest and you'll be ready to hit the road before you know it :)

And seeing as this is an ask box, I should really ask a question:
My music library is getting a bit repetitive at the moment, can you suggest any bands/artists I should add to my playlist? Any new releases or classics you into at the moment?
Love Bridget xx

love the “how are you traveling”…i’m gonna garage that one and deploy it daily.
sleigh bells, freelance whales, more tom waits, of montreal, latest flaming lips (embroyonic i reckon?)  and always the mighty pumpkins,
xoxox

lalanu asked: Did you like the cakes that you got at the Kingston show? They had football shirts, dinosaurs and superman on them!
We never got to find out if you liked them

yes, thank you and furthermore, i believe i’ve got a photo of that….pause for iphoto rummage

takebackyoursoul asked: Matthew, you've probably heard this all before but just to let you know once more, we all think you, Nathan, Mateo and Dan are fantastic.
Thank you for being such an inspiration and i will continue to wish you well throughout your recovery
Also thank you for the brilliant show in Middlesbrough, one of the greatest nights in a long time!

endless love…thank you

Votate Matthew Leone eroe dell'anno!

tumblrbot asked: WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?

we had a bathroom that had 2 sinks in it. nathan and i were maybe 3 or 4 and thought if we plugged the bathtub and sinks and turned on the water we could make a swimming pool. about 45 minutes in, we had flooded a good 1/3 of the house.

the next one puzzles me til this day. our older sister allison had a doll house in her room. one day nathan and i both went in there and she was sitting down looking into the house. we asked her what she was doing and she said, “i’m watching lucille.” we looked into the dollhouse and there was this little white cloth looking thing flying around the house, completely metaphysically. we were stunned. we stared at it for what seemed like 20 minutes until it disappeared. the troubling part is that we never talked about it until 15 years later at which point allison has no idea what we’re talking about.

Nathan blogga!

Era da un po' che Nathan non si faceva sentire su Tumblr...ma finalmente eccolo qui con un nuovo post di cui pubblico qui solo una parte.... come sempre,il resto direttamente sul blog di Nathan e nel forum in questo thread

now i’ve done it

sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches. the tricky part i’ve found is not knowing how many of them are comin. I like to reference any of the “Rocky” movies. The guy gets wailed on the entire match, non-stop punches until he’s just about to die and then somehow manages to squirt out one punch and win. As much as that used to annoy me as ridiculously unrealistic, i’ve finally seen the point. It’s not about the amount of punches you take, it’s more about getting up after each one of them. that might be one of the lamest things I’ve ever said, please forgive me

We’ve had a relentless 6-9 months. Believe it or not, the past 2 have continued, one shocking event after another. Did I tell you how I broke my fingers? Ok, truth be told it was only 1 broken finger but I find I get more attention saying 2. Not to mention the other one hurts pretty damn bad it might as well be broken. Here’s how it happened..

Intervista di Kerrang! a Matthew - Versione integrale!

Hola River People!
Matthew ha pubblicato sul suo blog la versione integrale dell'intervista con Kerrang!
Qui ne pubblico solo un estratto perchè è molto lunga, per la versione integrale vi rimando al suo blog, appunto, o a questo thread nel forum!

unedited K! interview

In your own words, Matthew, can you tell us what happened?

It was about 1:30am on a very typical summer night for us in Chicago. I was leaving Nathan’s place after doing some work. The area is heavily populated but has a neighborhood feel to it, so it had a distinctly peaceful and quiet vibe that night. As the building’s door closed behind me, I heard a blood curdling scream from a woman down the block. It was like the kind you hear in horror movies, which we’re all desensitized to, but when you hear it in real life, it’s quit disturbing. I ran across the street and down the block where i saw a man holding a woman down against a broken chain link fence on her back. She was screaming “He’s gonna kill me, someone please help me!’ I thought, “shit.” Being a relative midget, and the assailant appearing to be one of those of dudes who goes to the gym to “pump iron”, my only option was to use the physical laws of momentum to my advantage. I charged into him and knocked him off of the girl. Then i helped her up and saw blood on her lip. She was hysterical and begging me not to leave her because he was going to kill her and what not. I told her I wasn’t going anywhere and that she’s safe. At this point the guy took on this confusing demeanor. He was trying to tell me it was a misunderstanding and that she’s his wife and then proceeded to ask me to help him find his phone. I told them both to chill out and created a bit of distance between them. I called 911 and thankfully they answered quickly. Told them our location and that i just intervened in what seemed to be a domestic dispute. the dude then motioned towards me begging me to hang up the phone and pleading with me that he just needs to find his phone. i started to feel like he was placating me. it was like he was playing this shy, nerdy character to dispel the character i witnessed while approaching, and then out of nowhere he would charge after her again. i managed to subdue him a few more times, and each time he reverted right back into that other weak character that wanted me to find his phone. the last time he attacked her, i grabbed his jacket from behind and it ripped off ****************************************************************************** *******************************************************************************

*********************************************** (can’t discuss for legal purposes), and bam! then another or two and my lights went out.

i believe it was 8 to 10 minutes later when i woke up to the detectives picking me up off the street curb and taking me to the ambulance. i sat in there talking to the EMTs and detectives. i’ll leave more details out here. I did manage to text nathan the following “sorry nathan i got my ass kicked and have to peace out to the hospital.” i also emailed autumn from my phone and said,”i might be in bad shape, pause for details.” then i told the emts, “dudes, i dont have insurance, are you sure i have to go to the hospital?” at which point they showed me a mirror that reflected me, although i looked like Carrie from Prom Night.

the hours, days and weeks that followed this are riddled with bizarre experiences that chinked the armor of what i had always trusted the continuity of time to be. they are moments in which i’m unable to discern between reality and unconsciousness, so it’s best i end this question here.

Dresden Codex: aggiornamento!

Aggiornamento sul Dresden Codex pubblicato dai Madina Lake su PledgeMusic.com

DRESDEN UPDATE !

hello lovelies..
so sorry for the seemingly endless delays and lack of updates. As most of you know, right in the middle of this project we were dealt a devastating blow that set us back significantly. the good news is we’re finally back on track. I assure you every single item you’ve bid on is sitting in the madina warehouse ready to ship. We are expecting the Dresden CDs to arrive from manufacturing any day now and as soon as they do we will be packing and shipping immediately. Good news is that if you’ve connected to any of Madina’s previous releases in any way, I’m quite certain you’re going to love Dresden Codex. As cliche as it sounds, it’s by far our best material to date. We wanted to thank you all so much for not only your contribution to this project but for your patience and understanding throughout this difficult time. We can not wait to get Dresden into your hands .. and as soon as Matthew’s capable, we’re going to come visit each and every one of your cities :) xoxo

Matthew chats to Kerrang!

Ecco un'intervista a Matthew by Kerrang! Magazine (http://www.kerrang.com/blog/2010/10/matthe...15_minutes.html)

Matthew Leone "I was 15 minutes away from dying"

Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone has spoken to Kerrang! for the first time about the brutal assault in June that left him in a coma and fighting for his life.

Speaking from his home in Chicago, Matthew told Kerrang! that the last three months have been an extremely difficult and emotionally exhausting time, following the horrific injuries he sustained after breaking up a domestic dispute in the West Town area of Chicago in the early hours of June 29.

"I was 15 minutes away from dying," Matthew tells K!. "So the surgeons sawed my dome open because I had extreme internal brain haemorrhaging. The first surgery removed a third of my skull to allow for brain swelling, while the second surgery was when they put my lid back on and drilled it in with titanium. I had some oral surgeries as a result of my dislocated jaw. I also had a few flatlines on the operating table, too."

However, despite his medical care, Matthew says that it was the messages of support from Madina Lake fans from around the world that made him want to fight for his life.

"I can't tell you how much they truly saved my ass," he adds. "Nathan [Matthew's twin brother and Madina Lake frontman] the letters while I was unconscious in hospital. When I went home for the first time, Nathan and Autumn [Matthew's girlfriend] showed me all the letters, emails and videos. You get to a point where you're so vulnerable and weak that you almost wanna say 'Fuck it!' and throw down your hand. But having that support kept me so happy and surrounded by love - there was no way I was going anywhere!"

For the full interview, which features exclusive pictures from the Leone twins' private archive, be sure to pick up a copy of this week's Kerrang! magazine, on sale tomorrow (Wednesday, October 20).

Matthew chats to AltPress

Ecco un intervista di Matthew con AltPress!

Exclusive: Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone opens up about the attack that nearly took his life

How was it on your family? It must have been especially difficult on your twin brother.
That was the part that really started to wear me out. Every day it went on, the pain and torment it was causing my family was really stressing me out. I’m usually the one trying to make other people feel good and here I was responsible for causing all of this pain in the family. I knew my dad, Nathan and my girlfriend were all really hurting, so I wanted to act like I was better quicker than I was.

What have you done with yourself during this time?
I took my couch for a surf for about two months. [Laughs.] I could pretty much tell you the programming of every TV station by heart. I had a lot of physical rehabilitation, too. Something that came out of it for me, though, was that the ugliness of the event was so squashed by the beauty and love created by it. I really took value in that. So a lot of this time has been spent reconnecting with people in the world who I love. A problem with our culture is that things move so fast and everyone just gets absorbed into it. They sort of lose track of the things that actually matter. Events like this, while traumatic and painful, force you to stop and reevaluate, and there’s beauty in that. It brings people together and trivializes the things they thought mattered.

Have you had any contact with Justin Pivec?
No, he’s requested to talk to us a few times. But to me, he’s a nothing. He’s a wife-beater we got off the streets. If you focus your energy on that, it’s gonna consume you in a bad way. He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothes who needs to be behind bars (Pivec was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery Causing Serious Bodily Harm and Aggravated Battery in a Public Place —ed.). That couple has two kids—they had just had them. People say to me, “That’s so sad for the kids that their father went to jail.” I don’t know their histories, but I would assume maybe he grew up seeing his father beat his mother. So his kids would have grown up seeing their father beat their mother and the cycle would perpetuate. To me, this was the best thing that could happen, even though it’s in a painful way. It illustrates to these kids that it’s not okay to do that. Nathan and I lost our mother in a car accident when we were 12, and she was just the most amazing, beautiful spirit I’ve ever seen on the planet. We have three older sisters. Women are just absolutely marvelous, beautiful creatures and in no way, shape or form can it be tolerated that they’re treated like that. So I’m just grateful that stopped.

Did you ever get thanked by the woman?
No, sort of the opposite. This is something I probably shouldn’t talk about, but I was told she filed domestic charges against him that night but dropped them the next day.

Had you ever done anything like this before?
Nathan and I encountered a car accident once and helped pull the people out of the car, but that’s about the extent of it. There’s just an instinctive awareness that if someone’s in danger, you want to prevent that if you can. It seems sort of natural.

A lot of people wouldn’t, though.
That’s what I hear, but the whole “hero” thing really embarrasses me. I’m humbled by all the kind words people have said, but when people say they wouldn’t have done something like that, I have a hard time believing them. Or maybe they’re underestimating themselves. You see a man beating a woman like that and I don’t see how you can look the other way. Then again, I guess there were three witnesses watching from their houses. [Laughs.]

Right around the incident, you guys had recorded a song called “They’re Coming For Me” that proved eerily prophetic. How did it come about?
Collectively and individually, we as a band were enduring hardships. We had a series of stumbling blocks: We got dropped by our label and then our booking agent and management, all while we were on tour. What we decided to do was rent a house in Florida and be isolated and write and record. When we were writing, things just weren’t going well at all—divorces, addictions and things like that. So what we were writing was sort of really intense because we were in that frame of mind where you can’t think of anything but the disaster in your personal life. We co-opted with Pledge Music [to let fans help raise funds to release the upcoming EP, The Dresden Codex]. Right before the incident, we were writing the song, “They’re Coming For Me.” Nathan wrote the lyrics a week or two before and three or four days before the incident, I walked into the studio and our guitarist Mateo [Camargo] said, “Why don’t the two of you sing this chorus simultaneously and we’ll do it a few times to get this ‘choir’ effect.” We’d never done that before. I had only heard the chorus lyrics one time before that, but I remembered all of them because they resonated with me. A few days later, I recorded my bass part for the song and later that night was when the incident happened. The lyrics are an eery premonition: “I can feel the angels coming for me but I’m not ready to leave/I’ve got a promise to keep.”

At what point did you guys say, “Wait a minute. Remember that song?”
[Laughs.] Before all of this, we were really feeling good about the song and decided it was gonna be the first single. While my lights were out, our mixer offered to mix for a severely reduced rate and when we got it back, we were blown away. That’s when we were like, “Wait a second. That’s kind of unusual.” [Laughs.]

Will you be doing anything special for this EP?
Definitely. We’re only printing 2,000 copies of it, but that’s it. It won’t be reprinted ever. We’re customizing each piece, signing and numbering each. They’re gonna be a pretty special edition. Since we aren’t gonna be able to tour on this EP, we wanted to put as much value in it as we possibly can. They’ll only be available through the Pledge Music campaign. It’s sort of a thank you to fans for their support.

When are we gonna see you back out and about?
That’s the part that’s to be determined. My prognosis when I was unconscious was that I wouldn’t be walking or talking for six to 12 months and there was an 80 percent chance I’d have full amnesia. I’ve obviously managed to walk and talk and my memory is pretty decent. I’ve got some vertigo issues that set me back, but they’re projecting I’d be able to tour by February or March.

Is there anything you’d like to leave people with?
I just can’t thank everyone enough. It’s so flattering and humbling. It demonstrated to the world how incredible the music community is. It was a demonstration of compassion and generosity and selflessness in a world where selfishness prevails. The music community conveyed that it’s actually a community. Also, I’m so grateful for the fact that the focus is on all of the good that’s come out of it. That’s the way the world is left a better place: instead of anger being contagious, beauty is contagious. alt
